In April 2019, the European Parliament endorsed the provisional agreement of the research and innovation framework programme for 2021-2027. Based on this, the preparations for the implementation of Horizon Europe have begun.
The aim of the Horizon Europe programme is
– to strengthen the EU’s scientific and technological bases and the European Research Area
– to boost the innovation capacity, competitiveness and jobs
– to deliver on citizens’ priorities and sustain our socioeconomic model and values.
The preliminary structure of the planned €100 billion programme is based on three pillars:
1. Excellent Science
2. Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness
3. Innovative Europe
which are complemented by the objective of Widening Participation and Strengthening the European Research Area
